Makers’ Day at Kings Place is a standout event in the British music scene, bringing together craftsmen and musicians to celebrate string instrument making. With around 40 stands, the event offers a unique opportunity for musicians and the public to interact with makers, discuss instrument needs, and even try out instruments on the spot. Organized by the British Violin Making Association, the event strictly features instruments made by exhibitors themselves, maintaining its special atmosphere. Additionally, select trade stands offer instrument-making supplies. Makers’ Day serves as a platform not only for musicians to connect with makers but also for craftsmen to compare their work, fostering excellence in contemporary instrument making.
The highlight of the day is an afternoon concert by the Kreutzer Quartet, where they showcase instruments that have piqued their interest, discussing their unique qualities. The BVMA acknowledges the collaboration with Kings Place since 2017, which has significantly enhanced the event’s success and impact.
