After two widely-acclaimed albums in just two years, Swedish phenomenon Peter Sandberg brings his new project Midnattssol to Kings Place for EFG London Jazz Festival, a conceptual record in tribute to the land and folklore of the Swedish midnight sun. A radiant sequence with an uplifting blend of piano-based tracks and beautifully-weighted vocal-led moments, including new single ‘Frihet’.

Midnattssol takes the listener on a vivid, heady journey to the far north of Sweden inside the Arctic Circle where, during the summer, the sun never sets. Soft pianos weave and dovetail with synthesisers, ambient effects and processed organic percussion, drifting as effortlessly as flying insects through a pine forest. Tracks such as Sol layers downward piano arpeggios as sunshine through the canopy, building to a soaring moment with Wait. It’s an album that has taken on new meaning during the pandemic: a moment of true escapism and celebration.
