Sultan Stevenson is one of the most exciting young jazz musicians in London today. He did his first international tour in October 2023 when he was invited to Ireland, a tour that included an appearance at The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival.
2024 also took Sultan’s trio (Jacob Gryn on bass and Joel Waters on drums) across Europe. They appeared at Jazz Jantar in Poland, Jamboree in Barcelona, Duc De Lombards in Paris and for a 2-night residency at The Birds Eye Jazz Club in Basel, Switzerland.
2025 has already been a tremendous year for Sultan. On March 28th, he released his second album El Roi on Edition Records, launching with a sold-out show at the Southbank Centre. The trio are on their European tour and has performed at various high-profile jazz clubs and festivals, such as Duc De Lombards in Paris, Unterfahrt in Munich and Jassmine in Warsaw.
Sultan performed in Utrecht at The Transition Festival, in Belfast at The Brilliant Corners Festival, Bingen, Germany at The Swingt Festival, Bulgaria at The Bansko Festival and The Brecon International Jazz Festival.

A limited number of £10 tickets for attendees aged under 30 are available for certain shows. To purchase an ‘Under 30s’ ticket, please choose the ‘Under 30s’ price type when selecting your ticket(s). If the option does not appear, this means all ‘Under 30s’ tickets have sold out or are not available for this performance. Please note that proof of age may be requested at the venue. The £10 offer does not apply to premium price categories.

The Venue
Our performance spaces are situated on the lower ground floor. Hall One, Hall Two and St Pancras are located in level -2, reached by stairs, escalator and lift from the ground floor entrance level.

Door times indicate auditorium entrance times only. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Kings Place seating areas, gallery-level art, canal-side terrace, café, restaurant and bar throughout the day and evening.

Rotunda Bar & Restaurant
Rotunda, situated on the ground floor of Kings Place, offers a unique dining and drinking experience alongside Regent’s Canal. The concert bar in the venue foyer will also be open for select events.
Green & Fortune Café
Recently re-furbished and now open with a new look, the Green & Fortune Café is open for selected concerts. Serving hot and cold food and drinks, including sandwiches, salads, soup, stew and a pie of the day, alongside a choice of cakes made by the on-site bakery team. Sultan is a product of both the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy and Tomorrow’s Warriors, from a young age under the tuition of renowned jazz musicians such as Julian Joseph, Gary Crosby, Simon Purcell and Robert Mitchell. He graduated from the Guildhall School of Music, where he studied jazz piano until 2023.
In 2020, Sultan emerged onto the scene with a rapidly developing artistic voice. He started playing his own music alongside regular bandmates Jacob Gryn and Joel Waters. Jazz Re:freshed, The Jazz Cafe, The Vortex and The EFG London Jazz Festival are just some of the numerous places in which Sultan has wowed audiences. Sultan cites McCoy Tyner, Kenny Kirkland, Geri Allen and Ahmad Jamal as some of his biggest inspirations.
In 2022 Stevenson recorded his debut album Faithful One Jacob Gryn and Joel Waters. The album also features Josh Short (trumpet) and his mentor Denys Baptiste (tenor saxophone) The album was released on Whirlwind Recordings. It received much critical acclaim. Sultan launched the album at The Jazz Café on March 31st. The show sold out, it was a celebration of not only Sultan’s music but of young talent within the London jazz scene today.
In 2024, Sultan continued to take the jazz scene by storm. Sultan was hand-selected to perform 2 showcase slots at SXSW in Texas as part of the jazz Re:freshed ‘outernational’ event. Adding to this, Sultan has performed at the Jazzahead! Festival in Germany, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival for a sold-out show and was interviewed live for Radio 3, all in the space of four months.
Sultan was nominated for a Jazz FM award, within the ‘Best Newcomer’ category. The nomination is a testament to the rapid rise of the pianist and his storytelling abilities with his trio and music.
