Rare manuscripts offer insight into Jewish life in medieval England, and several remarkable examples have recently entered the British Library from Longleat House. They include a unique Hebrew grammar, a trilingual Hebrew-Latin-French dictionary, and a Hebrew Psalter compiled around 1250 at Ramsey Abbey in consultation with Jewish scholars. Dr. Dean Irwin outlines the period’s Jewish culture, followed by Professor Judith Olszowy-Schlanger, who discusses what she sees as the most important surviving manuscript for Christian-Jewish relations.
This event will last approximately 1 hour.

Judith Olszowy-Schlanger is President of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford.
