‘If architecture magnifies Space, music transfigures Time’ Gérard Grisey

What does music have to tell us about Time? Time Unwrapped, the tenth edition of our award-winning series, will give you 50 different experiences of time, whether it’s being immersed in Manu Delago’s Human Clock, swept up in Adams’ spiralling loops, the superhuman complexity of Nancarrow’s canons, the slow suspensions of Feldman or Pärt, the heavenly lengths of late Schubert or the eternal time of Benedictine chant…

We begin with Haydn’s Creation, and end with Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. Along the way we visit the seasons – of Buenos Aires and India – dynastic folk traditions with Martin & Eliza Carthy, Handel’s Triumph of Time & Truth and Grisey’s Vortex temporum.

With Hugo Ticciati as artist-in-residence, the series features William Basinski, Brodsky Quartet, Colin Currie Group, Imogen Cooper, Crick Crack Club, Explore Ensemble, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Icebreaker, London Sinfonietta, Víkingur Ólafsson, The Sixteen, John Tilbury and many more…
