A London Walk: Musical Marylebone & Mayfair

London Unwrapped

There’s music to be found just beyond the cacophony of brash Oxford Street. Tucked away to both the north and the south of London’s famous shopping street we can find scenes from the lives – and deaths – of the great composers as well as the ghosts of concert halls past.

In Mayfair, the streets were paved with gold for both Handel and Hendrix who found fame and fortune far from their homelands 250 years apart. To the north there’s Marylebone, birthplace of The Proms and home of Auntie Beeb. So move over medical men of Marylebone. Mayfair Monopoly: do not pass go! The musicians are taking centre stage in W1. Tour ends at Burlington House.

Meeting Point: Marylebone & Mayfair: In front of Broadcasting House, Portland Place

Timing: The planned tour content is of 90-100 minutes duration – please allow 2 hours to complete the tour.

End Point: Burlington House, Piccadilly. Nearest Tube Green Park/Piccadilly Circus

This tour takes place outdoors from start to finish. There are no interiors.

Join the 2pm Royal Flourish Tour, happening on the same day.

Can’t make this date? There is another Musical Marylebone & Mayfair tour on Sun 13th June.
