Guided by Haruhiko Hasegawa (shite actor of Kanze School) and moderated/interpreted by Ikuko Inoguchi (pianist and music scholar), audiences are invited to experience the utai chanting from the highlight of Matsukaze. Just bring your curiosity, your voice, and a willingness to explore something truly different.

A limited number of £10 tickets for attendees aged under 30 are available for certain shows. To purchase an ‘Under 30s’ ticket, please choose the ‘Under 30s’ price type when selecting your ticket(s). If the option does not appear, this means all ‘Under 30s’ tickets have sold out or are not available for this performance. Please note that proof of age may be requested at the venue. The £10 offer does not apply to premium price categories.

The Venue
Our performance spaces are situated on the lower ground floor. Hall One, Hall Two and St Pancras are located in level -2, reached by stairs, escalator and lift from the ground floor entrance level.
Event Times
Door times indicate auditorium entrance times only. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Kings Place seating areas, gallery-level art, canal-side terrace, café, restaurant and bar throughout the day and evening.

Rotunda Bar & Restaurant
Rotunda, situated on the ground floor of Kings Place, offers a unique dining and drinking experience alongside Regent’s Canal. The concert bar in the venue foyer will also be open for select events.
Green & Fortune Café
Recently re-furbished and now open with a new look, the Green & Fortune Café is open for selected concerts. Serving hot and cold food and drinks, including sandwiches, salads, soup, stew and a pie of the day, alongside a choice of cakes made by the on-site bakery team. Born in 1969 in Shizuoka, Japan, Haruhiko Hasegawa studied noh under Makio Umewaka (3rd generation Manzaburō) and became an apprentice of the Kanze school. A semi-professional performer since 1997, he has performed across Japan and internationally, including Germany, Switzerland, and the 1989 Europalia Belgium. Based in Kakegawa, he founded Nohgaku no Tsudoi and leads the Odawara Children’s Noh Club, promoting Noh through workshops and community programs. He also participates in reviving rarely performed plays with the Fukkyoku Noh wo Miru Kai. Hasegawa is a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property and a councilor of the Umewaka Ken Nohkai Foundation.
Dr Ikuko Inoguchi is an internationally acclaimed concert pianist, performer-scholar, and musicologist. She is particularly interested in performing and researching repertoire which displays cross-cultural influences and the music of Japanese composers. After completing her initial musical training in Japan, Ikuko completed her DMA at the University of Colorado, Boulder and was awarded a PhD from City, University of London. She is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at City, University of London. Her research interests include concepts of time and temporality, performance studies, the music of 20th and 21st century, the (Japanese) concept and performance practice of ma in the context of concert art music.
