Everything is Copy: Writing Family

Jewish Book Week

Esther Freud speaker
Miriam Robinson speaker
Natasha Lehrer chair

Jewish Book Week presents Esther Freud and Miriam Robinson, two writers whose novels bring us inside the usually private rooms of the family and explode the secrets at their core.

The authors of two of last year’s most acclaimed novels join us to discuss memory, mothers, marriage, bookshops, betrayal and bagels. Esther Freud’s semi-autobiographical Hideous Kinky first earned her a place on Granta’s Best Young Novelists list; three decades on, she revisits those characters in My Sister and Other Lovers, described as “delicate and profound” by Tracy Chevalier. Miriam Robinson’s debut And Notre Dame is Burning (“Exceptional”, The Bookseller) saw her hailed by The Mail on Sunday as “a thrilling new voice in literary fiction”.

This event will last approximately 1 hour, with no interval.
