How to Craft Great Roundtable Podcast Conversations

with Andrew Spence

London Podcast Festival 2025 | Podcast Maker Weekend

A deep dive into the art of podcast roundtable conversations; how to make them flow, land, and stand out. This session explores structure, tone, and casting, with real-world insights into what makes roundtable podcasts work and what doesn’t.

Roundtable podcasts are everywhere, from friends chatting around a mic to expert-led panels. But making a roundtable show that really works is harder than it looks. When done well, it’s dynamic, engaging, and full of personality. When done badly, it’s messy, confusing, and hard to follow.

This session explores what separates the good from the forgettable. Whether you’re just getting started or already producing shows, you’ll learn what makes a roundtable podcast flow, and what can derail it. From casting the right mix of voices, to setting tone and pace, to finding the balance between structure and spontaneity, we’ll break down the key ingredients behind great group conversation.

You’ll hear examples, practical insights, and behind-the-scenes experiences to help you sharpen your approach, whether you’re hosting the show yourself, producing behind the scenes, or commissioning a new format.

We’ll also leave time for Q&A, so bring your questions, ideas, or issues, and we’ll get into the nitty gritty of how to make podcast roundtables that land.

This event will last approximately 1 hour, with no interval.
