The job of Health Secretary is among the toughest for a Tory, but for all the pressures Jeremy Hunt has outlasted hallowed NHS founder Aneurin Bevan in the job – and is now being talked about as next Tory leader. He will discuss his life, his career, his vision for the health service and his ambitions with Ian Birrell.


Jeremy Hunt is a British politician of the Conservative Party serving as the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care since 2012 and Member of Parliament for South West Surrey since 2005. He was previously Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport (2010–2012) and Minister for the Olympics during London 2012.

Ian Birrell is contributing editor of The Mail on Sunday as foreign reporter and commentator. He writes a weekly column in the i paper as well as writing for the Daily Mail, the Observer, the Daily Telegraph, the Guardian and the Spectator. Ian Birrell was adviser and speechwriter for David Cameron in the run-up to the 2010 general election.
