Two of Britain’s most prominent political journalists, coming from very different ideological stances, explore the issues that led to Brexit, political disenchantment and the rise of populism.
John Harris is a British journalist, writer, and critic. He is the author of The Last Party: Britpop, Blair and the Demise of English Rock, So Now Who Do We Vote For? which examined the 2005 UK general election, a 2006 behind-the-scenes look at the production of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, and Hail! Hail! Rock’n’Roll. His articles have appeared in Q, Mojo, Rolling Stone, The Independent, the New Statesman, The Times, and the Guardian.
Tim Montgomerie is a political activist, blogger and columnist and former comment editor for The Times. He co-founded the think tank Centre for Social Justice with Iain Duncan Smith, and created and edited the ConservativeHome, a centre-right political blog, until he left to join The Times. On 17 February 2016, Montgomerie resigned his membership of the Conservative Party, citing the current leadership’s stance on Europe, which has been supportive of EU membership.
Nesrine Malik is a Guardian columnist and former private equity investor.
