New York, home to the largest Jewish community outside Israel, is experiencing a profound political and cultural shift. What do these changes mean for Jewish identity, security and civic life? Zohran Mamdani’s shock election as mayor saw Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declining to endorse his fellow Democrat. Jane Eisner, who led The Forward for over a decade, is joined by two incisive voices on US politics – Stanford historian Steven Zipperstein and Harper’s Magazine publisher John R. MacArthur – to examine how Jewish New York is being reshaped and its future being contested in real time.

A limited number of £10 tickets for attendees aged under 30 are available for certain shows. To purchase an ‘Under 30s’ ticket, please choose the ‘Under 30s’ price type when selecting your ticket(s). If the option does not appear, this means all ‘Under 30s’ tickets have sold out or are not available for this performance. Please note that proof of age may be requested at the venue. The £10 offer does not apply to premium price categories.

Kings Place is situated just a few minutes’ walk from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations, one of the most connected locations in London and now the biggest transport hub in Europe.

The Venue
Our performance spaces are situated on the lower ground floor. Hall One, Hall Two and St Pancras are located in level -2, reached by stairs, escalator and lift from the ground floor entrance level.
Event Times
Door times indicate auditorium entrance times only. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Kings Place seating areas, gallery-level art, canal-side terrace, café, restaurant and bar throughout the day and evening.
- Our events begin promptly at the advertised start time. Typically, there is no support unless otherwise stated.
- We recommend arriving in good time before the performance. The Hall doors will open 30 minutes before the performance to allow time to take your seats, or to choose a space for standing shows.
- Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable break in the performance where possible

Rotunda Bar & Restaurant
Rotunda, situated on the ground floor of Kings Place, offers a unique dining and drinking experience alongside Regent’s Canal. The concert bar in the venue foyer will also be open for select events.
Green & Fortune Café
Recently re-furbished and now open with a new look, the Green & Fortune Café is open for selected concerts. Serving hot and cold food and drinks, including sandwiches, salads, soup, stew and a pie of the day, alongside a choice of cakes made by the on-site bakery team. Steven Zipperstein
Steven J. Zipperstein is the Daniel E. Koshland Professor in Jewish Culture and History at Stanford University. He is the author and editor of ten books, including Rosenfeld’s Lives: Fame, Oblivion, and the Furies of Writing and Pogrom: Kishinev and the Tilt of History. He lives in Berkeley, CA.
John R. MacArthur
John R. (Rick) MacArthur is president and publisher of Harper’s Magazine and an award-winning journalist and author. Under his leadership, Harper’s has received twenty-two National Magazine Awards, the industry’s highest recognition. He edited and wrote the introduction (and conducted the last interview) for Graham Greene: The Last Interview and Other Conversations, published by Melville House in 2019. His other books include Second Front: Censorship and Propaganda in the Gulf War and The Selling of “Free Trade”: NAFTA, Washington, & the Subversion of American Democracy. His essays appear regularly in The Spectator and he writes a column (in French) for Montreal’s Le Devoir newspaper. In 2017, he was named a Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters, an honour bestowed by the French government. Mr MacArthur was born in New York City and grew up in Winnetka, Illinois. He graduated in 1978 from Columbia University with a B.A. in history. He lives with his wife and two daughters in New York City.
Jane Eisner
Jane Eisner is a widely published journalist who held leadership positions at The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Forward. She is the author of Taking Back the Vote. Eisner lives in New York City.
