14.00-15.00: Music & Stories: the Role that Music plays in Palestine
An afternoon of musical insight with Eleni Mustaklem, Reem Anbar, Dr. Louis Brehony & Wissam Boustany (moderated by John Harte) . They will be exploring the roles that music plays in shaping and expressing identity in Palestine today.
15.30-16.30 Palestinian Voices in Literature: Writing Memory Mapping Exile – Stories of Displacement Resistance and Belonging
This thought-provoking panel gathers four acclaimed Palestinian voices whose work spans fiction, theatre, poetry, and political thought. With Elias Matar, Selma Dabbagh and Atef Alshaer (moderated by Ahmed Najar).
There is a maximum capacity for the talks programme. While every effort will be made to accommodate everyone wishing to attend all events, depending on attendance on the day we expect that some sessions may reach capacity, in which case attendance for individual talks will be on a first-come, first served basis.
Exhibitions
This ticket also gives access to festival exhibitions featuring works from the Palestine Museum US & Scotland, and the Stitch Their Names Together project Hudur al-Gha’ibin (Presence of the Absent) – a monumental textile installation comprising 275 hand-stitched panels created by approximately 360 artists. Through the meticulous embroidery of 50,000 individual names, the work serves as a memorial to Palestinian lives lost in Gaza.
Souk
There will be a bustling bustling souk of Palestinian artisanal crafts, ceramics, jewellery, art, fashion, books ranging all genres, traditional tatreez embroidery & thobes and a series of inspiring talks and discussions where leading voices in art, literature, theatre, cinema & storytelling, music, poetry, and peacebuilding share their unique perspectives on Palestine’s enduring cultural identity.
Other highlights include the acclaimed theatre production Welcome to Gaza, by the Hands Up Theatre Project. Evening performances feature Gazelleband, the NABAD Dabke Troupe, and a spectacular finale by Banat al-Quds, an all-female choir from Palestine. Experience the resilience, creativity, and spirit of Palestinian culture while supporting young musicians in Palestine. Proceeds support the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music.
