Juan Martín is a celebrated virtuoso of the flamenco guitar who was voted in the top three of guitarists in the world by US magazine Guitar Player.
He resides between London and Málaga, where he learnt his art and first appeared in a film there aged 17 (Donde tu estes). He played for Picasso’s 90th birthday celebrations, has recorded 18 albums and given solo concerts from Shanghai to San Francisco to the Montreux Jazz Festival. He has appeared at the Wigmore Hall in London with the Nash Ensemble and his super melodic compositions have been compared to those of Francisco Tárrega and Joaquín Turina.
The leading Spanish newspaper El Mundo said of him ‘he has a terrifyingly good technique and an absolute dominance of the guitar, filling the concert hall with crystalline clarity’, The Guardian called him ‘the leading flamenco guitarist of his generation’ and The Times said ‘he is a giant of the flamenco tradition’.
Juan is also an outstanding and patient teacher and he will be giving a two-day Flamenco Guitar Course at the IGF Guitar Summit this year. Book tickets here.
