Master Series

Haydn String Quartet in C major, Op.33, No.3 The Bird
Beethoven String Quartet in E minor, Op.59, No.2 Razumovsky
Beethoven String Quartet in C major, Op.59, No.3 Razumovsky

A welcome return by the peerless Chiaroscuro Quartet, with two of Beethoven’s forever radical Razumovsky Quartets, and a slice of early Hadyn.

Led by Alina Ibragimova, the Chiaroscuro Quartet has become synonymous with the authentic performance of classical chamber music and is acclaimed the world over. The Quartet’s unique sound, using gut strings and period bows, was described as ‘a shock to the ears of the best kind’ (The Observer). Their ever-growing discography includes sets of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Mendelssohn. Their latest release was Haydn’s Op. 33 Nos 1-3 (BIS). In this concert, they present two of Beethoven’s radical middle-period quartets alongside Haydn’s impish Op.33 No. 3, The Bird.

The event will last approximately 2 hours, including an interval.
