This violin and piano recital offers some of the most challenging repertoire for the two instruments.

The opening pieces, played without a break, are a tribute to the late Peter Maxwell Davies. The commission for the solo Sonatina was a project for six different composers to write unaccompanied violin works based on Bach’s six Sonatas and Partitas, hence the Maxwell Davies is preceded by the Adagio from Bach’s Sonata No. 3, which he chose to use. Schubert’s Sonata Grand Duo is an exuberant masterpiece of his early maturity. Saint-Saens elegant Sonata No. 1, written in 1885, opens the second half, followed by two familiar works by Tchaikovsky. Firstly, the virtuoso Meditation (conceived as the slow movement of the violin concerto), and secondly the no less virtuosic Valse Scherzo, again originally conceived with orchestral accompaniment.

Dejan Bogdanovic is established internationally as a solo violinist and chamber music player. Since his early debut he has performed to admiring audiences, captivated by his impeccable technique, beauty of sound and complete interpretative understanding of the music; always with a compelling personal insight.

Gabriele Vianello, a pupil of Maria Tipo, and award winning pianist, is a Professor at the Conservatorio di Venezia, and highly acclaimed internationally. His technique, expressive tone colour and musicianship mean he is in demand as a soloist and chamber musician.

The duo have a long standing partnership, performing a large and varied repertoire in the concert hall, at festivals and in the recording studio. This is their London debut.
