The Fitzwilliam Quartet have been regular visitors to the LCMS series for many years, and are well known for championing British music of all eras – their opening Purcell Fantazia is a typical Fitzwilliam programme.
Haydn’s famous Fifths Quartet follows, and their programme culminates in one of the masterworks of the quartet repertoire – Schubert’s great last G major quartet.
