London Piano Festival 2021

Schubert Drei Klavierstücke, D946
Piano Sonata in B flat, D960

‘A profoundly gifted artist’ Gramophone Magazine

Katya Apekisheva explores the world of late Schubert through her close affinity with these masterly works. The three Klavierstücke, D946 reveal compelling facets of the Viennese composer by turns turbulent, obsessive, otherworldly and dance like. The iconic Sonata in B flat, D960, perhaps the most famous of all Schubert sonatas, presents an entire universe of experience. A sense of journeying pervades the four movements apparent through music of rare beauty, profundity and grace. This sublime piece possesses a magnetic quality continuing to draw pianists and audiences into its remarkable orbit.
