BEETHOVEN STRING TRIOS & BRAHMS PIANO QUARTETS (Concert III)

The last of a mini-series of three concerts celebrating the string trio medium. Each concert pairs one of Beethoven’s remarkable Op. 9 set of trios with a 20th century example in the medium, and then adds a pianist to present one of the three piano quartets by Brahms.

This concert features the intense third trio by Beethoven, and the beautiful ‘Serenade’ for string trio by the Hungarian composer Dohnanyi. The concert finishes with more intense music in C minor, Brahms’s famously passionate Piano Quartet in that key. Famous French violinist Philippe Graffin is joined by violist Lise Berthaud, (former BBC new generation artist), cellist Marie Hallynck (professor at the Royal Brussels Conservatoire), and for the Brahms by the celebrated French pianist Denis Pascal.
