VOCES8 present a spatialised Sound Unwrapped programme, featuring Ligeti’s Lux Aeterna performed with musicians on stage and on the Hall One stage and up in the balcony.

This fascinating programme from VOCES8 will immerse you in the swirling and undulating sounds of György Ligeti (whose centenary we celebrate this year and whose Lux Aeterna found fame in Stanley Kubrik’s 2001: Space Odyssey), Pēteris Vasks and Caroline Shaw – pieces that show off micropolyphony, extended vocal technique and abstract sounds. Set alongside this is J.S. Bach’s glorious solo violin Partita No. 2 played by Fenella Humphreys and here incorporating sung chorales, a double choir work from Charles Wood and Elgar’s Nimrod, arranged for voices as Lux Aeterna. VOCES8 welcomes the VOCES8 Scholars, violinist Fenella Humphreys and cellist Matthew Sharp, all directed by Barnaby Smith.

The performance will last approximately 80 minutes, including an interval.
