American cellist and producer Maya Beiser has spent twenty years pioneering a new music for the instrument with contemporary composers, using amplification, pre-recorded tracks, voice and film. In this bespoke recital she performs works written for her, including Steve Reich’s scintillating Cello Counterpoint, and Golijov’s urgent, multi-layered Mariel. A founder member of Bang-on-a-Can All Stars, she’ll present luminous works by David Lang and Michael Gordon, and the UK premiere by of Julia Wolfe’s new piece Emunah.
