Doyenne of the baroque violin, Rachel Podger opens our annual Bach Weekend with a sparkling recital for solo violin. She combines two of the composer’s most famous solo works, the poignant Sonata in A minor and the monumental D minor Partita, with his life-affirming third suite for cello. Her recent recording of the solo cello suites challenged convention but was greeted with general acclaim, described in BBC Music Magazine as ‘A spellbinding set that is arguably Podger’s finest recorded achievement to date.’
