Following her recent solo album successes, A Guardian Angel and Bach Solo Cello Suites, both heard at Kings Place, Rachel Podger brings her latest project, Tutta Sola to Hall One. This intricate, intimate voyage of discovery centres around the exciting new arrangement of Bach’s Toccata & Fugue by Chad Kelly and includes preludes, dances and fugal movements from European composers all living at the dawn of the 18th century. Lesser-known gems such as Matteis Jr.’s heart-wrenching Fantasia in C Minor feature amongst solo violin music from Johann Joseph Vilsmayr and Johann Paul von Westhoff, both remarkable violinists in their own right.
Rachel’s philosophy is that ‘just about everything starts with Bach’ and the recital culminates in his dazzling Partita No. 3 in E major.
The performance will last approximately 2 hours, including an interval.
