Piers Adams recorders
Adam Summerhayes violin
Angela East cello
David Wright harpsichord

Red Priest present a fantastical new programme exploring the connections between music of great baroque masters and the wild folk musicians of Eastern Europe.

Featured is a sonata and concerto by Telemann, stunning early baroque virtuosity from Bohemian composers Biber and Mielczewski, and a suite of haunting melodies from the 1730 Uhrovska Collection. There is also a distinctly English take on music of the East from Elizabethan composers Byrd and Nicholson, and works by Handel and the Red Priest himself, Antonio Vivaldi, re-imagined with dazzling gypsy bravura!

FREE Pre-concert foyer performance, 5.45pm
Renaissance brass and wind ensemble Vecchi Venti explore the Venetian school of composers from the 16th and 17th centuries, including madrigals, canzonas and motets.
