The Kirckman Concert Society is thrilled to present Russian pianist Roman Kosyakov in The Monday Platform series at Kings Place.
For over 50 years the Society has offered debut recitals in major London venues to the most exceptional young musicians. Among the most celebrated names have been Janet Baker, Ian Bostridge and the Belcea Quartet.
Roman Kosyakov was one of only two pianists chosen from the 36 who applied to the Society for audition this year. Originally trained in Moscow, he won the 2018 Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, the latest in a glittering array of international prizes. His programme will include major masterpieces by two of his compatriots; the rarely heard Second Sonata by Shostakovich, and the much-loved set of Ten Preludes, Op. 23, by Rachmaninov.
The Monday Platform offers young professional musicians the opportunity to perform in some of London’s most prestigious concert halls. The artists appearing in this concert were selected by audition in 2018.
