The famous Trio Goya brings period performance insights to favourite classical works, with a beautiful early-nineteenth century replica fortepiano, and string players performing on gut strings and with old bows. Mozart’s G major piano trio from the 1780s is paired with a duo by the celebrated eighteenth-century English composer and cellist, Stephen Paxton (1734-87). Their concert ends with one of the triumphs of the piano trio repertoire – Schubert’s sublime trio in B-flat.
