Fresh from their triumphant European tour of Steve Reich’s newest work, Colin Currie Group return to Kings Place with a programme of classics, including Piano Phase and Six Marimbas, which they perform in London for the first time.

Piano Phase was born out of Reich’s experiments in the ’60s, an exploration of phasing using live performers to mimic the divergence of tape loops, an absorbing, sensuous, intellectually satisfying masterpiece. Six Marimbas, from 1986, is an entrancing construction, again dating from earlier work, while the radiant Quartet of 2013 for two pianos and two vibraphones, dedicated to Colin Currie himself, has been described as a ‘dancing song of praise.’
