|Levi||Slow Dark Green Murky Waterfall, Waves|
|Adams||Among Red Mountains|
Experience the shattering power of John Luther Adams’s monumental music of the great outdoors, Tukiliit and Among Red Mountains, both inspired by the Alaskan landscape, book-ending a mesmerising revised sequence from pianist Eliza McCarthy. Featuring music by Berio, Donnacha Dennehy’s Stainless Staining, Mica Levi’s immersive Slow Dark Green Murky Waterfall, and a new work by Kit Downes.
“Eliza McCarthy is a pianist of beguiling poise and style. She is also the muse for many living composers, including Mica Levi, who wrote a series of commanding pieces for her with fantastic titles, such as Slow Dark Green Murky Waterfall. In this special concert she will weave Mica’s pieces with John Luther Adams’s monumental music of the great outdoors, Tukiliit, Nunataks and Among Red Mountains.” Helen Wallace, Programme Director at Kings Place

In this open-ended series we shine a light into the crucible of new music creation today, revealing exhilarating cross-currents in sound and style through boundary-breaking, visceral performances.
From contemporary orchestral composition to shimmering electronic sound worlds, musical expression is becoming less defined by genre, more framed by its emotional and cultural contexts. Luminate taps into this bold, exploratory landscape in a series of shows that will provoke and inspire.
The third season starting January 2020 is brought to you in association with Spitfire Audio.
