Levitation Orchestra + Pouya Ehsaei

Vaak Records and Art Stage present an enticing collaboration between the Levitation Orchestra, a London jazz collective taking the scene to new, unexplored sonic territory, and Iranian modular synth artist, Pouya Ehsaei.

“Cooperatively-composed and cooperatively-owned”

These are the two founding principles of Levitation Orchestra’s creative process.

Founded in 2018 by trumpeter & musical director Axel Kaner-Lidstrom, Levitation Orchestra was formed with the shared goal to create original suites of music completely collectively. The last 18 months have been standout for the band, which saw the release of their 2nd album Illusions & Realities on Gearbox Records, sell-out performances at Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Cafe & Studio 9294, as well as main stage shows at We Out Here Festival & Brainchild Festival, their first international date at La Vilette Paris and a national tour.

About Pouya Ehsaei:

Pouya Ehsaei is a composer, sound designer and electronic musician. He experiments with different compositional and sound synthesis techniques to create a sonic passage through hypnotic soundscapes, industrial beats, intricate sound miniatures, epic soundscapes, fractal polymeric rhythms and pulsating hard-hitting sub-frequencies.

He is the bandleader of the electronic jazz group Ariwo and the creative leader of Parasang, an initiative that brings together musicians from all around the globe to create one-off improvised concerts. Pouya is the co-founder of From the Lips to the Moon, an unusual music and poetry radio/live show where, alongside Tara Fatehi, they create an immersive sound, literature and visuals for the audience and listeners.

He has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, Southbank Centre and the Royal Academy of Arts as well as several festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival, Womex, Womad, Fusion, Shambala and Linecheck. He regularly collaborates with other artists on dance, performance, video game and film projects.

This event is presented by Vaak Records and Art Stage.

The performance will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, without an interval.
