Neil Cowley Trio

Pianist Neil Cowley reunites his acclaimed trio after a seven-year break, following a solo journey into neoclassical and electronica. With bassist Rex Horan and drummer Evan Jenkins, the trio blends new music with fan favourites. Expect galloping grooves, thrilling crescendos and glass-like fragility alongside Cowley’s trademark wit in a dynamic show that revives the trio’s bold, heartfelt sound.

Last year, pianist and composer Neil Cowley ended his trio’s seven-year hiatus with the magnificent new recording Entity — and with it, a dynamic live show of brand-new music alongside fan-favourite Cowley classics.

Having burst onto the scene almost 20 years ago, their muscular anthems, galloping grooves and tender, elegiac moments placed them at the forefront of a new movement in jazz, paving the way for 6 highly acclaimed albums. Cowley then pressed ‘pause’ to pursue a solo career taking in neo classical composition and electronica. Stirred by his extended time of solitary music making, Entity makes a firm statement about the joy, comfort and the rewards of human connection in the digital age. Joining Cowley are his close musical allies, bassist Rex Horan and drummer Evan Jenkins; three friends giving their all to each other, metaphorically dancing together.

Cowley is a brilliant composer and dazzling pianist, and the trio flame still burns bright. For this special London show, head-nodding wonky grooves, dynamic works with thrilling crescendos sit side by side with deeply impassioned tender music of glass-like fragility — heart-wrenching and heart-pounding in equal measure. Expect a powerful, emotional performance with Cowley’s infectious wit and playfulness never far behind.

This event will last approximately 90 minutes, with no interval.
