Shout at Cancer Choir

Singing Together | Voices Unwrapped

As part of our year-long 2022 Voices Unwrapped programme, we’re welcoming community, amateur and children’s choirs into our public spaces. Join us for a free foyer performance from Shout at Cancer choir ahead of our Sound Voice Project concert in Hall One.

Shout at Cancer Choir use music as a motivational tool to rebuild voice and confidence after laryngectomy (the surgical removal of the voice box), and as an instrument to facilitate public education and engagement.

The concerts of laryngectomy choir are a form of story-telling that explain the layered psycho-social impact after this life-changing operation. As positive activists the choir members continue to make a vast impact on the laryngectomy community. They have inspired research, art and society to direct much-needed attention to this overlooked and neglected community.

They are unique in making an incredible impact, at a high level, in three very different areas: healthcare, science and arts. Although distinct from one another, brought together in harmony, they are even more powerful.
