‘The whole audience was dancing… A positive joy.’ Brian Miller, The Scotsman

Join Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas for a special concert in honour of ‘The Golden Age’, a time in the mid 18th century when Scotland was aflame with creativity, music, dance and was embarking on ‘The Scottish Enlightenment’! You’ll hear tunes from an array of characters of the time, including of course, Niel Gow, the doyen of Scottish fiddlers, who famously met with Robert Burns on his ‘Tour of the Highlands’.  Many of the tunes in this programme have become beloved songs of Burns to this day.

The special evening will include a pre-recorded performance with live intros from the duo. The event is rounded off with an exclusive post-concert chat on Zoom. All the details for this will be provided during the stream.

The musical partnership between consummate performer Fraser, ‘the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling’ and brilliant Californian cellist, Haas, spans the full spectrum between intimate chamber music and ecstatic dance energy. Over the last 16 years of creating a buzz at festivals and concert halls across the world, they have truly set the standard for fiddle and cello in traditional music. They continue to thrill audiences internationally with their virtuosic playing, their near-telepathic understanding, and the joyful spontaneity and sheer physical presence of their music.
