Chris Wood + Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith

Storytelling in Song

Award-winning singer and writer Chris Wood matches detailed stories of everyday life with reflections on politics, society and history. Jimmy and Sid come from a new generation of storytelling writers, with a repertoire spanning traditional and self-penned songs of the times.

Praise for Chris Wood:

‘Wise and soulful… Wood’s forte is putting real human beings in real positions and drawing some kind of universal truth’ fRoots
‘Wood is a significant force for good… a wise, soulful set of songs that should see him consolidate his place at the top table of British songwriters.’ Folk Radio UK
‘Spartan, dense, haunting… a musical documentarian of immense complexity and subtlety.’ ★★★★★ Irish Times

Chris Wood is an uncompromising writer whose music reveals his love for the unofficial history of the English speaking people. His eagerly awaited new album So Much to Defend was previewed at Cambridge Folk Festival last summer.

Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith play traditional and original folksong of the British Isles. They tell stories of hardship, joy, struggle and celebration held together with driving banjo and guitar arrangements and close vocal harmonies. Their second album Night Hours was released on Fellside in autumn 2016.

‘A cracking album full of really terrific songs’ Mike Harding
