Nominated for the ‘Horizon Award’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2018
For renowned folk song collector Lucy Broadwood, ‘Outway Songsters’ not only sang traditional and popular songs of the era but also invented new ones themselves. Modern-day Outway Songster Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne sings his current ‘favourite songs’, mainly traditional with the odd Victorian popular song thrown in for good measure, as well songs he has ‘invented’ himself. Along with these songs come a few favourite traditional tunes of seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth-century origin.
Cohen has been performing with George Sansome and Lewis Wood as Granny’s Attic for many years but more recently he has also been performing solo. He draws his influences from some of the best singers around, past and present. He is also one of the most accomplished Anglo concertina and melodeon players in the country.
