Songlines Encounters Festival 2019

Songlines Encounters Festival 2019

‘The intuitive and often beautiful interplay of accordion, fiddle and guitar glides to a new level as instrumental virtuosity blends easily with tasteful electronics.’ MOJO

‘The British folk scene’s bravest experimenters’ Robin Denselow, Songlines

The brilliant trio of Kris Drever (guitar and vocals), Martin Green (accordion) and Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle) known as Lau are favourites at Kings Place and with the Songlines team. Superb musicians, thrilling performers, free-thinking visionaries and all-round good chaps as well… small wonder Lau are regarded as the epicentre of the new folk boom. Since they started in 2007 they have won a shelf-load of awards.

Their latest (fifth) album Midnight and Closedown has urgent questions to ask about Britain today: ‘What comes next?, asks Aidan O’Rourke. ‘For us musically, and for the society we live in?’

A Lau gig is always an exciting live prospect as you never quite know what you’re in for – but a thrilling ride is guaranteed.
