Phenomenal young Jazz Drummer Josh Davis will be joined by the legendary Jazz Guitarist and Vocalist Ciyo Brown, as well as some of the finest young Jazz musicians from both sides of the Atlantic, for a Spring Bank Holiday Sunday evening of outstanding musicianship with sophisticated ‘jazz fusion’ elegantly bringing together many genres of popular music.
Whereas Jazz Fest – part 1 highlighted the music of great jazz musicians and composers past and present, such as Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Parker, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Duke Ellington, Jazz Fest – part 2 will focus on highlighting the music of ‘modern’ jazz musicians and composers where jazz is mixed with many other genres to form ‘Jazz Fusion’.
The music is brought to you by a group of young, gifted and talented musicians, who have a passion for jazz and parallel genres and who were musically educated and polished at what are known to be two of the finest jazz institutions in the world: the globally accredited, distinguished and prestigious Guildhall School of Music in London and Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.
The show will consist of original compositions and own arrangements of well-known jazz compositions as well as fusion arrangements of recognisable mainstream songs by the likes of Michael Jackson, George Benson, Snarky Puppy, Tyla, Norman Brown and others.
The night will feature, as a very special guest, renowned and critically acclaimed jazz guitarist, Ciyo Brown – known to his many followers and music lovers simply as ‘Ciyo’! – and you will be further entertained on the night by some outstanding guest vocalists.
As with Classical Fest and Jazz Fest – part 1, we are raising funds for the Croydon Supplementary Education Centre (CSEP), to prevent the closure of this very valuable school.
Presented by Josh Davis Music
This event will last approximately 2 hours 45 minutes, including an interval.
