Praise for Granite:

‘Kate can rock out (all pun’s intended) on the opening energies of Tracks of Desire, and be yearning personified on Curlew Cry… Magical’ Andy Robson, Jazzwise

‘An ace song cycle with a varied and versatile sound featuring forays into rock and blues with Kate’s persuasive voice as guide’ Sid Smith, Prog Magazine

Internationally acclaimed singer and librettist Kate Westbrook – ‘one of the most unique, expressive and flexible voices one could find between the Atlantic and the Urals’ (Jazz Magazine, France) – presents Granite.

This epic and groundbreaking work is inspired by her love of Dartmoor and its granite quarries. Kate’s astonishing vocal range and strikingly original lyrics are matched by composer Mike Westbrook’s genre-busting score and her brilliant Granite Band, featuring saxophonist Roz Harding, guitarists Jesse Molins and Matthew North, bass guitarist Billie Bottle, pianist Mike Westbrook and drummer Coach York.

Granite the album, produced by Jay Auborn, is on Westbrook Records, with distribution by Proper. Listen to the first track on the album here.
