Acclaimed American jazz guitarist Joel Harrison returns to Europe with a stellar band that features Grammy award-winning Alto Saxophonist John O’Gallagher, Michael Janisch (double bass), and Gerald Cleaver (drums). The night in part focuses on Harrison’s new Whirlwind Recordings album, Still Point: Turning World with new arrangements of the album material, alongside a range of his compositions from his 20 solo recordings.

Described as ‘protean and brilliant’ by the New York Times, guitarist/composer/vocalist Harrison has ‘created a new blueprint for jazz’ (New Orleans Times Picayune). His solo albums showcase a unique ability to shape sound from disparate sources, veering across the globe into rock, country, American roots music, Indian, West African, classical and more.

Grammy award-winning Alto Saxophonist John O’Gallagher, is considered one of the most compelling alto saxophonists and composers at work today on the New York jazz scene. He is known for an innovative style which pushes the boundaries of jazz while rooted in it’s tradition.

MOBO-nominated artist Michael Janisch (Joe Lovano, Lee Konitz) is an American based in London and one of the country’s most in-demand jazz bassists, and drummer Gerald Cleaver has contributed to many ground-breaking albums of recent years with artists such as Craig Taborn, William Parker and Henry Threadgill. A concert by modern greats simply not to be missed.

Harkiret Singh Bahra is an experienced Indian Classical Percussion player and Tabla teacher. He’s performed at numerous national venues such as The Royal Festival Hall, as well as across Europe and India. When not recording fusional genre music with the likes of The Chris Woods Groove Orchestra, Harkiret teaches weekly Tabla classes in Kent and at the annual Chakardar Summer Retreat.
