Lignacite Annual Lecture 2017

Lignacite is delighted to present this year’s Annual Lecture exploring the creative relationship between designers in art and architecture.

The Architect, Sir Jeremy Dixon and Peter Millican, founder of Kings Place together with the acoustician, Rob Harris will examine turning a major new commercial arts venue in London into a world-class concert hall. Exploring architecture and music they will demonstrate how successful collaborations led to the creation of arguably the most inclusive arts space in London.

Following the talk, the internationally-renowned pianist and London Piano Festival co-artistic director Charles Owen will give a short recital to demonstrate the acoustic.

Sir Jeremy Dixon is principal in the architectural practice Dixon Jones founded in 1989 with Edward Jones. The practice has a particular interest in the civic contribution buildings make to cities, with many of their projects in buildings for the arts, education, and music.

Peter Millican is a developer of award-winning buildings primarily in the north of England and Scotland, and the inspiration behind Kings Place. As well as his involvement with the Kings Place development, Peter chairs the Music Foundation at Kings Place.

Rob Harris is a leading independent international auditorium acoustic designer and theatre consultant. He spent 32 years with engineering firm Arup, where his acoustic design credits include many of the major new concert spaces in the UK and overseas including the Glyndebourne, Oslo and Copenhagen opera houses.
