How I Made This

How do history podcasts make their stories come alive for their listeners? Our exceptional panel of academics, podcasters and broadcasters share the process behind their popular shows, and offer tips on how you can make your nonfiction stories sparkle and shine.

Paul Duncan McGarrity is an archaeologist, comedian and host of the Ask an Archaeologist podcast about the heritage industry, the people who work in it and the vast range of jobs they do.

Helen Carr is a historian, writer and producer. Her podcast, Hidden Histories, is part of the History Hit network.

Nick Harris is the Digital Creative Producer at the British Museum. When he’s not making YouTube videos on anything from penises to nocturnal time keeping, he can be found scurrying around their basements with a microphone making some form of history-based audio. He is the presenter and producer of the British Museum Podcast.
