A top panel discusses the life and legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died aged 87 in September, in this Jewish Book Week online event. Nominated to the Supreme Court by Bill Clinton in 1993, she was the first Jewish woman and only the second woman ever to serve, which she did for the next 27 years, becoming a pop culture icon in the process.

Barrister and broadcaster Baroness Helena Kennedy, lawyer and author Philippe Sands, and United States federal judge Nina Pillard discuss both the woman they knew and the judge who had such influence on American society. Chaired by writer and presenter Matthew Stadlen.

Helena Kennedy QC has acted in many leading legal cases, including the Brighton Bombers’ trial and the Guildford 4 appeal. A Life Peer, she has received countless awards as an indefatigable fighter for justice. An acclaimed author, her latest book is Eve Was Shamed: How British Justice is Failing Women.

Nina Pillard is a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Before becoming a judge, Nina was a tenured law professor at Georgetown University.

Philippe Sands QC is Professor of International Law at UCL and a practising barrister. He is the author of East West Street: On the Origins of Crimes Against Humanity, which won the Baillie Gifford Prize, and The Ratline: Love, Lies and Justice on the Trail of a Nazi Fugitive.

Matthew Stadlen is a broadcaster and writer. Previously he was an LBC presenter, wrote The Matthew Stadlen Interview for the Telegraph and presented the TV series Five Minutes With and On The Road With for the BBC. He is a birdwatcher and photographer, and his book How To See Birds is out now.
