This podcast explores how we relate to one another in our intimate connections, friendships, family and everything in-between. Hosted by three Caribbean Women, the podcast will connect, entertain, and delight listeners through authentic conversations, soundscapes and relatable experiences. This podcast was created because we believe a shared journey brings hope x.
Fiona (a single mum)
Fiona Compton is a London based Saint Lucian photographer, artist, filmmaker and historian. After working for the UK’s largest publishing houses, photographing some of the most influential figures in the world of Finance and Banking, Fiona found it necessary to focus her work on the history and culture of her people. Her films have been screened across the globe and has also been featured in the UK Cabinet office. Fiona continues her mission to educate in innovative ways through events and online through her account ‘Know Your Caribbean’ via Instagram, creative workshops for children and young people in venues such as the South Bank Centre and Black Cultural Archives in London. Her clients have included HSBC, Amazon, Sony Music, Cosmopolitan magazine to name a few. Fiona remains a strong advocate for her history and culture and is an Official Ambassador for London’s Notting Hill Carnival, the second largest street festival in the world.
Sherween (a near empty nester)
Sherween Gonzales is a super mum to 3 amazing humans based in London, but with her heart set in Saint Lucia. An islander at heart with a chilled vibe and an infectious laugh. Sherween co-founded Blackstone Valentine films with her ex-husband where she produced a variety of corporate, short films and documentaries including Caribbean Footsteps which was aired across the Caribbean and America. She has an extraordinarily strong business acumen which she gathered from her many years’ experience as a Marketing agent for Saint Lucia Tourist Board, as well as business consulting for individual clients. With a passion for teaching and learning, Sherween is also a fully qualified Business Studies Lecturer, and studies Afro Caribbean spirituality, ancestral heritage and herbal medicine in her free time. She aspires to provide healing love to herself as well as anyone who needs it.
Chantal (a free-spirited monogamist)
Chantal Miller is a filmmaker and broadcast journalist by trade with a passion for social and creative entrepreneurship. In addition to her community-building work at The Trampery, she is also the founder of Island Girls Rock, a non-profit initiative celebrating women of Caribbean heritage. She is a producer/presenter (radio and podcasts), much sought after voice-over artist, certified Creative Healing Practitioner and has an intense passion for Caribbean films. She runs digital storytelling and creative healing workshops and is regularly commissioned to speak on matters related to creative entrepreneurship, wellness and the power of digital storytelling.Chantal’s work resides perfectly on the intersection of creativity and wellness and as such she can be seen as a creative polymath – dipping into her various modalities to create and curate experiences which provide ease, beauty and joy.
