Justin Adams has been described as ‘the English Ry Cooder'. He is renowned for his work as a guitarist with Robert Plant and as a producer with the legendary Touareg band Tinariwen. He has always been drawn to gritty, authentic music. Describing his roots, he says ‘my reference points were Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters, as well as old cassettes of ‘70s African music'. Add a childhood spent in the Middle East, and you've got the mix that brings a spine-tingling quality to everything he plays.

Justin Adams - guitar, percussion John Baggott - synthesizers, samplers Billy Fuller - bass

For his final Kings Place concert, Justin Adams will premiere a new group with two of his cohorts from Robert Plant's band. The Invisible City trio will put Adams' guitar in a denser electronic context, in the spirit of his work with Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart. Loops of trance percussion will be set against shifting textures and pulsing bass, with Adams' Afro/Arab guitar tracing above.

John Baggott is one of the unsung heroes of the Bristol scene. He has recorded and toured regularly with Massive Attack and Portishead, as well as contirubting to many soundtracks with the Startled Insects. Billy Fuller has collaborated with Can's Damo Suzuki, John Parrish and cult Bristol band Fuzz against Junk, his bass referencing dub and psychedelia. He also provided bass for the Adams/Camara album Soul Science.
