Notes & Letters

Words & music, can they be friends? A new festival combines the wit and wisdom of poets, writers, musicians, translators, historians and children's authors.

Sir Peter Maxwell Davies discusses a deranged King; Will Self finds a symphony in a novel; Jonathan Coe saw a story in the music of the High Llamas; Michael Rosen appears with the Homemade Orchestra and Marina Warner searches for song in the Arabian Nights. From translations to libretti, from Orpheus to the music of the spheres, here is a festival humming with ideas.
