|Dvořák||String Sextet in A, Op. 48|
|Beamish||Divertimenti (London premiere)|
|Brahms||String Sextet No. 2 in G, Op. 36|
The five string players of Divertimenti are joined by violist Garfield Jackson (of the Endellion Quartet) to perform two powerful and beautiful string sextets by Dvořák and Brahms – each written for pairs of violins, violas and cellos.
In the midst comes the London premiere of Sally Beamish’s new String Quintet, which draws upon Scotland and the Scottish landscape. It is dedicated to the ensemble, of which Sally Beamish was also a founder member, and her piece is titled Divertimenti in tribute.
