David Eres Brun (Spain)

David Eres Brun has built an international career as an orchestral conductor, guitarist and composer. Considered by critics as ‘one of the firmest values of the Spanish guitar and orchestral conducting’ (Forum Clásico), he has a strong commitment to disseminate Spanish both in his native country and all over the world.

He studied in Spain (Conservatories “Maestro Tárrega” in Castellón and “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Valencia) and France at the École Normale de Musique in Paris. He also attended masterclasses of some of the greatest figures in the guitar world including Léo Brouwer, David Russell, Ricardo Gallén, Roberto Aussel, Roland Dyens and Manuel Barrueco. Further studies brought him to the Academia Chigiana di Siena and the Vienna Conservatory.

He is the Chief Conductor of orchestras specialising in Spanish music such as the Filarmonía Hispánica and the Academic Orchestra of Valencia. He is Artistic Director of the Instituto para el Desarrollo Musical (IDM).

As a composer, his music has been performed by prestigious ensembles and soloists at international concerts and festivals. He is Artistic Director of the Tárrega Week and the Fortea Festival.

Francisco Correa (Colombia)

Join us to discover some fresh, new and irresistible contributions to the guitar repertoire from ‘the land of a thousand rhythms’. Classical guitarist Francisco Correa presents music from his debut album, Música de la tierrita (‘music from the homeland’), exploring music for guitar by composers from his native Colombia, including several works written especially for him. These pieces mix classical and Colombian folk styles, drawing heavily on the rhythms and dances of central Colombia, such as the Bambuco, the Pasillo and the Joropo, but using more complex harmonies than traditionally used in folk music. The resulting music is worthy of world recognition on the concert stage while remaining undeniably Colombian.

A multiple prize winner in many guitar competitions, Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa has performed concertos with orchestra on both sides of the Atlantic, and has appeared on Colombian, British and French radio & television. His debut CD Música de la Tierrita received high acclaim in renowned guitar publications Guitare Classique, Soundboard and Classical Guitar Magazine.

Career highlights include performing the Aranjuez Concerto with the Grammy-winning Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Latin-American premier of Steve Goss’s Guitar Concerto (2012) with Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia.

A passionate advocate of new music, Francisco collaborates with renowned composers to create, record and premiere new works for guitar. He won the 2020 Ibermúsicas funding award to commission and premiere the Suite Warmikuna by Ecuadorian composer Pedro Barreiro, and is currently working with celebrated Welsh composer Stephen Goss on a series of 12 preludes for guitar (Winterbourne Preludes).

‘Equally comfortable gliding through brisk, virtuosic numbers, heartfelt songs, Correa is one of Colombia’s top classical guitarists, Highly recommended!.’ – Classical Guitar Magazine
