Baritone Mark Stone joins the orchestra for Martin Suckling’s Candlebird, a poignant song cycle that weaves together microtonal sounds with tender, expressive lines – praised by The Times as ‘luxuriously imaginative’. Paired with this song cycle is Mozart’s effervescent Piano Concerto No. 16 performed by pianist Charles Owen, who makes his debut with the orchestra.
The lively spirit continues as Aurora brings its critically-acclaimed approach to Beethoven’s orchestral works to the fourth symphony – a work bursting with spine-tingling power and overwhelming momentum.
Martin Suckling’s Candlebird is supported by Resonate, a PRS Foundation initiative in partnership with Association of British Orchestras, BBC Radio 3 and Boltini Trust.
