Sing to the Dark Weekend

Scotland Unwrapped

Inspired by seasonal traditions, Scottish songwriter and storyteller, Karine Polwart, journeys into and out of darkness via some of the best-loved songs of her 25-year career, as well as new music, story and immersive sound, crafted in collaboration with sound designer and composer Pippa Murphy.

The Gaelic festival of Samhain was once widely marked across Scotland, Ireland and beyond as a threshold into winter and the darker half of the year. A liminal time of fire and feasting, magic and mischief, and collective remembering of the dead, it finds echoes in Halloween and All Saints/Souls. Anticipate myth and wonder, resonance and ritual, lamentation and blessing, and an invitation to sing together to the coming dark.

As part of this concert, Karine and Pippa will be joined by the new The Dark Matter Choir, following their weekend of workshops at Kings Place. More details below.

The Dark Matter Choir: Weekend Workshop and Performance

Karine and Pippa’s Sing to the Dark concert runs in conjunction with a unique and exciting, limited place opportunity for singers to work with Karine Polwart across the arc of the weekend as members of The Dark Matter Choir, a choir created for this special weekend.
