Part artwork, part documentary, Nothing to be Written tells the stories behind ‘field postcards’ – one of the few communication options in WWI between soldiers on the front and their families back home.
Set to a haunting score for orchestra and choir by British composer Anna Meredith, this award-winning seven-minute VR experience was produced by the BBC VR Hub – a mixed reality studio within the BBC exploring how storytelling in XR can extend the BBC’s mission to inform, educate and entertain. Nothing to be Written premiered at the BBC Proms 2018 by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Proms Youth Ensemble and National Youth Choir of Great Britain, conducted by Sakari Oramo.
Since then, it has travelled the length and breadth of the country to bring this lesser known story of the Great War to audiences across the UK and now returns to London this weekend accompanying ‘The Lock-In: Surround with Anna Meredith’ at Kings Place.
