Kings Place: Belong is rooted in the belief that everyone should be able to access and enjoy the arts. This strand focuses on widening participation and building inclusive, long-term partnerships with local communities and organisations. Through welcoming, relevant and socially impactful projects, we aim to reduce barriers, strengthen connections and create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to experience music, creativity and belonging at Kings Place.
SAT 28 NOV – Graphic Scores: How Art and Music Help People Living with Parkinson’s
Graphic Scores is a UCL research project exploring how making art and music together can support the mental health and wellbeing of people living with young-onset Parkinson’s (aged 18 to 50). In partnership with King’s Place, the project brings a small group together for a series of creative workshops this October and November to explore their experiences of Parkinson’s through visual art, creating a graphic score together as a group. Professional musicians then work with the group to interpret and develop this graphic score into an original piece of music. The project culminates in a live public performance at King’s Place in November 2026, and is part of an Arts Council England-funded study led by researchers at UCL’s Institute of Neurology.

Kings Place Choir
Kings Place Choir is a community choir that has been running for 12 years. It is open to all abilities and ages and we sing a wide genre of music, from pop to classical. We have performed on stages across London from Kings Place to G-A-Y.

House Gospel Choir
Sing with HGC is House Gospel Choir’s vocal development and community singing programme, bringing people together through the shared joy of music.
Founded in London in 2014, House Gospel Choir is known for its unique fusion of house music and gospel, and its belief that we can sing together as one voice and be understood. Over the past decade, HGC has performed and collaborated with artists including Kylie Minogue, Rudimental and MNEK, while developing a vibrant community of singers alongside its work as a recording and touring artist.
Sing with HGC brings that same spirit into the rehearsal room. Led by members of the HGC creative team, sessions explore harmony, vocal technique, musicality and performance through house, gospel, soul and the choir’s own repertoire. Creating a space rooted in connection, development and the simple joy of singing together.
Venus Blazing Music Trust
The Venus Blazing Music Trust was established in 2004 in Camden. The Trust’s core mission is to create professionally led music and theatre projects that advance the social and communication skills of young adults aged 18-30 with cognitive disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Autism.
Working with world-recognised partners such as Kings Place, The British Library and the Royal College of Music, the Venus Blazing Music Trust has substantial experience of delivering first-class programmes with music skills training and performance at its centre. The leaders of the Music and Skills Programme, Deirdre Gribbin and Lou Stein, have unparalleled experience in their respective fields. Deirdre Gribbin is an award- winning composer and professor at the Royal College of Music and Trinity-Laban. Lou Stein was until recently Artistic Director of Chickenshed, a North London youth theatre with 50 years of inclusive experience. He has won five Offie awards and received a special award for his services to inclusive theatre. Both also have personal experiential knowledge of young people with intellectual disabilities.
Islington Festival of Music & Art
Born out of the local garden concerts we organised after lockdown in the summer of 2020, the Islington Festival aims to recreate the community spirit that inspired us then and bring people together to experience high-quality live music and art in different venues throughout the Borough of Islington.
Join our Community Club!
Creating access to Kings Place for the most underserved parts of our community, our Community Club has seen us connect with local charities including Highgate Black Women’s Wellness Group, Central YMCA, WE RESTART, Clarion Housing, Third Age Project, Gingerbread and many more!
